Michael "Sabian" Rawcliffe is of Algonquin / Metis heritage from the Hull, Quebec region but grew up in a Chippewa community in Southern Ontario. He relocated to a Northern Minnesota Ojibway Community where he learned the art of beadwork and developed a fascination with dream catcher weaving during the cold winters before moving back to Canada's west coast. This was where he developed skills in drum and rattle making while living in Sts'ailes territory before moving to Chilliwack to study Coast Salish art design from a respected Salish carver and painter. Sabian has been developing his own style of artwork incorporating dream catcher weaving into his drums, beadwork and pendants.
